Rain and resilience
27 determined Year 10 pupils have successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Qualifying Expedition in the New Forest, trekking 15km a day while carrying all their own gear! The weather provided a true test of resilience; one minute the girls were battling torrential rain in full waterproof kit, and the next they were drying out under blue skies. Despite the damp conditions, spirits remained high as they navigated the trails, enjoying close encounters with the local wildlife, including free-roaming horses, donkeys, and deer. After long days on their feet, they successfully pitched camp, cooked their own meals, and played games each evening.
A massive congratulations to all participants for passing this challenging milestone.
While teamwork was exceptional across the board, several girls received high praise for their outstanding contributions during the expedition:
- Freya, Willa, and Cleo demonstrated excellent navigational skills.
- Bess showed great leadership in challenging moments
- Bobbie, Charlotte, and Ellie were the ultimate morale boosters
- Scarlett was recognised for her kindness
- Elbie and Flo resiliently battled through illness to reach the finish
