Top grade delight!
We are thrilled to see our largest Year 11 cohort achieve such fantastic results: our best ever 9/8 (A**/A*) results with almost half of all grades at this level and 26% of all grades awarded the top grade of a 9. More than 1 in 3 pupils achieved at least nine GCSEs graded 7-9 (A**-A).
“I am delighted to see our girls achieving such excellent results. I am so proud of the continuous academic progress here, which is a testament to each girl’s dedication as well as the expertise of our staff in inspiring and supporting them to achieve their very best. I look forward to seeing them rise to the exciting new challenges at A Level and pursue their chosen paths.”
Ms Geldeard, Head
What a wonderful morning we have had celebrating with our Year 11 families as their daughters look ahead to their A Level studies. This year group joined Year 7 during the first lockdown, but far from this experience holding them back, they seized every opportunity and have done exceptionally well.
Once again, we have had great success in the Humanities with 86% of Religious Studies results, and 83% of Geography results graded at 7-9 (A**-A). We are delighted with our highly successful core subject results with 78% of English results grade 9-7 and 72% graded 9-7 in Maths. Yet again, our girls achieved excellent results in Sciences with over 55% 8/9 grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Our Languages department is also very proud that 85% of results were graded 9-7 (A**-A) in French, Italian, German and Spanish.
The importance of a tailored education cannot be underestimated – our girls succeed in all their subjects, whether they love them or need more support to get the best result for them. Now it’s time to streamline and focus on the subjects they are most passionate about!
Leona
Leona achieved an impressive 10 GCSEs at grade 9! A gifted violinist, Leona played alongside the London Mozart Players at Fairfield Halls this summer and is continuing her love of music alongside her A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths at Sydenham High Sixth Form.
“I’m feeling very pleased with myself. I feel like I worked quite hard – and I did better than I expected which is great. What I’m most excited about for sixth form is studying A level subjects that I love.”
“We are absolutely delighted with Leona’s results and so grateful to Sydenham for the incredible guidance throughout her GCSE years. Leona joined in Year 10, and the staff made her transition smooth with thoughtful adjustments and encouragement. She’s now looking forward to continuing her sixth form journey at Sydenham, and we truly appreciate the care and dedication shown to her.”

“I’m really happy with my results I just want to say thank you to all my teachers; more than words can ever express they’ve done so much for me, they believed in me when I even didn’t believe in myself so I’m really happy with what I got today!

Amiya
Amiya earned six 9s and three 8s and is continuing on to study English, History, and Geography at Sixth Form.
“I’m so happy and thank you to all the teachers who have helped and supported me.”
Isabelle
Isabelle has been at Sydenham High since Reception and has achieved five grade 9s, three 8s and a 7. A gifted cellist, harpist and composer, her grade 9 in GCSE Music exemplifies why she now holds a Sixth Form Music Scholarship! Isabelle will be completing her time at Sydenham High by studying Maths, English, Music, and Geography. She was beaming: “I’m really happy and I did really well. Yay!”
“We are so pleased with the results – she has worked incredibly hard! It’s truly rewarding to see that hard work pay off. Credit also goes to the school, as all the staff know exactly how to support her and help her grow. Studying hard is one thing, but studying right is on another level! We are very, very proud of her!”

It is so lovely to watch another year group celebrating the culmination of all their hard work. It is always a team effort getting each girl to where she needs to be – her own determination, the expertise of our staff and the support of parents and families!
“Leila was so nervous this morning – and now she’s absolutely over the moon with her results! She hasn’t always felt confident with her science subjects, so to come away with all 9s is just amazing. We are so proud of her and incredibly grateful for all the support from Sydenham. The guidance and encouragement throughout have made such a difference!”

Whatever path the girls choose, we hope that we have prepared them well to move on with confidence to the next challenge. We look forward to watching what happens next. See you in Sixth Form!
