The London Schools’ Year 7 & 8 Championships took place at Mile End on Tuesday and all the pupils that competed had qualified from the Lewisham round and were therefore competing at a much higher level and representing Lewisham. It was fabulous that 14 athletes from Sydenham & Dulwich Girls were selected meaning we were really well represented within the team. Whilst every athlete performed at their best, a special mention must go to the following pupils:

Monica – PB of over 4m in the long jump
Bea – a PB of 1.20 in the high jump
Ava – 5th in London in the 800m
Bea – 4th in London in the 70m hurdles
Charlotte – 5th in London in the 1500m
Artemis – 2nd in London in the javelin

We were delighted that both the Y7 & 8 relays teams were made up totally of athletes from SDG.

Cricket vs Bromley High

On Tuesday the U12 Cricket teams travelled to Bromley for 2 competitive games. It was great to see the girls field with enthusiasm and demonstrate the power in batting they have been working on in training. In the field they worked together brilliantly, including 2 boundary savings dives from Connie. The matches were close with only a small number of runs separating the teams. Overall the 3 game series went to Sydenham & Dulwich, 2 games to 3.

Cricket vs Croydon High

Against Croydon High on Thursday, the U13 girls played with a commanding presence. They batted with aggression and ran hard, pushing to make 2s when available and putting the field under pressure. In the field they bowled fantastically well with Zoe, Daisy and Artemis all taking wickets. In the end it was a clear win, with SDG scoring 258 runs to Croydon’s 235 in the A team, and the Bs won by 15 runs. A great afternoon of Cricket by all. 

On Monday the Junior Girls attended the Regional round of the track and field cup.
There were stand out performances from all year groups with some key results listed below. The whole squad should be incredibly proud of their performances, coming 4th overall in the Region.
