House Spirit shines through
After a stretch of sweltering days, Sports Day arrived with slightly cooler weather and sunshine breaking through—setting the perfect tone for a day full of energy and enthusiasm. Spirits were high as we kicked off with a lively House warm-up run, with pupils raring to go!
The morning was packed with a flurry of heats across a wide range of events, all building towards an exciting afternoon of finals. While every pupil competed fiercely for House points, what stood out most was the unwavering support from the sidelines—cheers and encouragement came from all directions, regardless of House or form. It was a shining example of Sydenham High’s Culture of Kindness in action.
Adding to the spirit of the day was our Community Fun Run, where pupils, staff, and parents joined forces for a joyful jog—raising funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. It was heartening to see so many take part, not just for fun, but for a meaningful cause.
And of course, no Sports Day would be complete without a visit from Mr Whippy! A well-deserved treat after a day filled with running, cheering, and celebrating everything Sydenham High stands for.
A special shout-out goes to the athletes who smashed an incredible seven school records across Years 7, 9 and 10. And when the final points were tallied, it was Stanley House who emerged as overall champions—sweeping victories across the year groups and taking home the coveted House Cup.
