ESAA English Schools’ Track & Field Cup Success
The athletics teams delivered a phenomenal performance at this year’s ESAA English Schools’ Track and Field Cup on Friday 8th May, bringing home 1st place in both the Junior Girls and Intermediate Girls competitions. This double victory reflects the athletes’ dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit throughout the day. We competed against several highly respected schools — including Thomas’s Battersea, St Dunstan’s College, Saint Cecilia’s Church of England, Eltham College, Blackheath High School, and City of London School for Girls — our athletes rose to the challenge and finished ahead of them all.
The atmosphere was electric as both teams delivered consistent, high‑quality performances across sprints, middle‑distance, and field events. Every athlete contributed valuable points, demonstrating resilience and determination. Special mentions go to the following athletes for their outstanding individual result.
Ava F — A dominant run in the 800m, winning in 2:31.9.
Charlotte B — A superb performance in the 1500m, finishing in 5:18.9.
Sophia A — A strong and composed 1500m, clocking 5:34.2.
Nahla B — An excellent sprint in the 100m, recording 13.2.
Elliot A — A determined and well‑paced 300m, finishing in 44.1.
Every athlete played a crucial role in this outstanding achievement. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and commitment were evident throughout the competition. The school community should feel incredibly proud of the girls’ performances and the way they represented us on such a prestigious stage.
Cricket
The Under 14 B & C cricket teams enjoyed their first softball matches of the season last Wednesday away against Bromley.
Although ultimately both teams lost, there were a number of highlights enjoyed by our girls, including Isabella R hitting the first six of the season for the B team, Elodie O taking the first wicket of the season for the C team and a number of fours from the flashing blade of Kalypso S in her ultra attacking innings.
Lewisham Athletics
We had a fantastic day with our athletes from Years 7-10 on Monday at the Lewisham School Athletics Championships. We fielded 4 very strong teams, with the rules of this competition stating that each competitor could compete in 2 events plus relay. Whilst we have not yet received the results, outstanding performances include Ava & Elliott in 800m, Charlotte & Sophia in 1500m Bea in high jump, Nahla in 100m, and Kalypso in shot put. We eagerly await the final placings!
