Senior School Sports Report: 1 May 2026

Athletics takes centre stage as we gear up for the bustling season ahead.

Athletics v Croydon

It was great to kick off the summer season with an Open Athletics event for Year 7 & 8, hosted by sister school, Croydon High. We took over 40 athletes, and all had the opportunity to compete in up to 4 events, two track and two field, with many of the Year 7s trying events for the first time.

Despite being a friendly competition, there was a strong field of competitors, with 5 schools represented, and many of our pupils achieved some great results, including Imona (Year 7) completing the 100m in 14.15 seconds and Bea (Year 7) finishing the 70m hurdles in 14.14 seconds. In Year 8, many jumped over 3.5m in the long jump and Flora ran a 14.5 100m.

Athletics v Bromley, Colfes, Blackheath

27 Year 7 Girls took part in an Athletics meeting at Bromley High School on Thursday afternoon. The girls showed real promise in different track and field events against Colfe’s, Bromley High and Blackheath High. Special mention to the girls relay teams one of whom finished 1st. Sophia  for her resounding performance in the 1500 metres coming 1st and Lexi Tamara for her powerful and explosive throws in the javelin, discus and shotput. Well done all the girls who took part.

Yr8 Athletics with Bromley High

On Thursday, 40 girls from Year 8 took part in an Athletics meet with Bromley High. Every pupil participated in at least one, many two or three field and track events, giving them the opportunity to put into competition the skills they have been building in lessons and at club. It was a great afternoon, and special mentions went to Artemis for her Javelin throwing and Mary B for her strong performance in the sprint events.

Y9 & 10 Athletics Open

Another sunny day took us back to Croydon High, this time for the year 9 & 10 Open Athletics. Nielle ran a fantastic 100m in 14.13 and Iris sped round the 300m in 51.40 secs. In the field, Imani cleared 1.30 in the high jump. All these are great results for the first meet of the season, and we look forward to seeing continued commitment and involvement.
