Prep Captains Sign New Building
Our Prep Captains were thrilled to take part in the topping out ceremony by signing the metalwork, a special moment that will remain in the building as a lasting symbol of the foundation and the school community’s shared journey in bringing this new development to life.
On a beautiful, clear day with the London skyline stretching beneath us, Sydenham High School celebrated the topping out of its new sixth form and entrance building. Over 30 guests joined from across the school community, including our CEO Cheryl Giovannoni, GDST colleagues, construction and design partners, governors, PSA Presidents, Head Girls, and Prep Captains, to mark this significant milestone.
Guests gathered on the second floor to sign the metalwork—a symbolic gesture representing the foundation of the building and the shared journey of our school community.
The new development will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, a tech-enabled maker space, and an inspiring suite of sixth form rooms. The refurbished Lodge building will provide a modern, calm, and independent environment that supports both achievement and wellbeing for our sixth formers.
The ceremony also celebrated the school’s long-standing commitment to girls-only education, which fosters confidence, leadership, and academic excellence. Sydenham High’s students continue to achieve outstanding results, and the new building will ensure future generations have access to facilities that nurture their aspirations and potential.
This milestone reflects the collective effort of the entire community—from construction partners to staff, students, parents, and alumnae—and marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sydenham High. The school looks forward to welcoming pupils into these inspiring spaces and celebrating the achievements of the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
