This week, our Lower Junior Choir continued their wonderful partnership with the Befrienders Choir, an inclusive local singing group dedicated to combating loneliness among the elderly in Lewisham.
Marking their fifth collaboration, it was heartwarming to witness the growing bonds between the generations; the children were visibly excited to reunite with familiar faces!
This session took a particularly creative turn as the groups worked together to translate visual art into vocal soundscapes and movement. Drawing inspiration from Henri Rousseau’s Tiger in a Tropical Storm, Dorothy Dehner’s Nocturne, and even a graphic score by our very own Lena (Year 4), the performers shed their inhibitions. It was a joy to hear them use their voices and body percussion in new and creative ways to share their unique interpretations of the artwork. As always, it is a privilege to host the Befrienders and to witness such fruitful intergenerational collaboration.
