U11 Cricket v Bromley High
On Wednesday, we hosted Bromley High for our first cricket fixture of the term. While the afternoon was blessed with clear blue skies, some strong gusts of wind made conditions challenging at times for the players. Despite the breeze, both teams ended up playing two matches each, providing a fantastic opportunity to shake off the cobwebs and return to the swing of summer sports.
The focus for the afternoon was on our three main pillars of batting, bowling, and fielding, all of which showed significant progression as the matches went on. The players adapted well to the blustery conditions, with the bowling becoming more consistent and the calling between the wickets sharpening up as their confidence grew.
Across the matches, Indira was chosen as the bowler of the match for her accuracy in her bowling, while Lana was named batter of the match for her team after an impressive display of timing and power. In the other team, Alice was chosen as bowler of the match for her brilliant straight arm action and Freja as batter of the match for scoring many of the team’s runs.
With another U11 match against Blackheath High next week, these first two fixtures will have provided all 32 of our Year 6 cricket club pupils the opportunity to represent the school early on in the term. Such high levels of participation highlight our dedication to inclusive sport, allowing every player to gain match experience and grow alongside their peers.
A huge well done to all the players for their resilience in the wind and their excellent sportsmanship. It has been a brilliant start to the term, and we look forward to seeing this progress continue!
