GDST Oxbridge Conference for aspiring academics

Two ambitious Year 12 pupils began their summer at the annual GDST Oxbridge conference at Clare College, Cambridge.

Two of Sydenham & Dulwich Girls ambitious Year 12 girls began their summer holidays by joining 63 other students from across the GDST at the annual Oxbridge conference at Clare College, Cambridge. Tyne (Law) and Comfort (Medicine) engaged in a variety of inspiring and useful workshops and seminars, covering everything from admissions, interviews, student experience and challenging subject specific seminars. It was an excellent networking experience with a particular highlight being the formal dinner in the beautiful Clare College Hall. Both students found the entire conference both inspiring and enjoyable.

“I particularly enjoyed the law session because we got to participate in mock trial and argue a case on intellectual property from both sides as well as networking with many different students and staff from across the GDST” – Tyne

Being surrounded by like-minded students who want to pursue medicine was particularly inspiring. I enjoyed being given thought provoking stimuli in our session and engaging in high intellectual conversations with an experienced doctor and other individuals. Overall, my time here was fantastic” – Comfort

They were joined by three of our outstanding teachers, Ms Inchenko, Mrs Vaughan and Mrs Ellison, who were invited to deliver specialist academic seminars on Engineering, Philosophy and Social and Political Sciences respectively. All three were excited to share their knowledge and challenge the thinking of curious and aspirational young women from across the Trust.
