Vital Future Skills
Today, we had the honour of welcoming Ms Jo Baldwin, Director of Fiscorum Financial Intelligence, to speak to our Year 12 about one of the most vital future skills they’ll need as they prepare for university life just 16 months away: financial intelligence.
This important session was designed to equip Sixth Formers with the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed financial decisions at university and beyond. In today’s increasingly complex financial world, the cost of uninformed choices is greater than ever. Sessions like this are essential in fostering a generation of financially independent and empowered young adults.
Jo shared a range of practical tips on how to navigate student life — from understanding student loans and using them strategically, to managing overdrafts and credit cards wisely. She explained how, when used intelligently, these financial tools can help build a strong credit history while avoiding the pitfalls of debt and poor spending habits.
The session sparked thoughtful conversations and many questions from our pupils, as they began to reflect on how to build their own financial awareness and confidence for the future.
Thank you, Jo, for such an insightful and inspiring talk.
