As our Year 13 pupils prepare for life beyond school, practical life skills are just as important as academic success. This week, our catering partner, Accent, delivered an engaging and invaluable University Survival Guide workshop, equipping pupils with essential cooking and budgeting skills to help them navigate independent living with confidence.

Led by Georgia, a nutritionist, and Chef Graham, the session covered everything from cost-effective shopping and food storage to preparing quick, nutritious meals on a budget. With the rising cost of living, knowing how to cook simple yet healthy meals is a vital skill, and our pupils were eager to take on the challenge.

One of the standout moments was watching Chef Graham’s expert cooking skills in action as he transformed a single meat sauce into three delicious meals—a meat sauce pasta, burrito, and quick noodles in just 20 minutes. And, of course, we had the chance to taste the results—it was simply delicious!

Beyond the cooking itself, the workshop encouraged self-sufficiency and confidence in the kitchen, empowering pupils to take control of their nutrition and well-being as they transition to university. The hands-on, practical nature of the session ensured that everyone left feeling inspired and ready to put their new skills into practice.

A huge thank you to the Accent team for delivering such a fun and insightful workshop. Our Year 13s are now better prepared to embrace independent living—one home-cooked meal at a time!
