INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

We are a leading London girls’ school that combines British academic tradition with a warm, globally minded outlook.

Part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, Sydenham & Dulwich Girls combines the strength of a leading UK school group with the warmth of a close-knit community. With 140 years of experience in girls’ education, we welcome families from around the world and provide a supportive environment where international pupils quickly feel at home.

Located in leafy south London, our school offers excellent academic preparation for GCSEs and A Levels, with strong progression to leading UK universities. Our teaching develops critical thinking, confidence and independence, equipping girls with skills that are valued globally.

We understand that moving countries is a significant step for both pupils and parents. Our experienced pastoral and admissions teams work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition into school life, helping every girl settle quickly, build friendships and thrive both academically and personally.

With easy access to central London and a diverse international community, pupils benefit from rich cultural experiences, educational visits and opportunities that broaden their global outlook. We are committed to developing confident, resilient and globally minded young women who are well prepared for success wherever their future takes them.

Applying to our Senior School

1

We use an Admissions software called Applicaa, which is where you will need to complete a form to enquire about visiting our school and, ultimately where you apply for a place.

2

Choosing a school from overseas is a significant decision. Our Admissions team offers one-to-one online consultations to answer questions and provide tailored guidance throughout the application process. Families are also welcome to arrange a private tour to experience our school first-hand, alongside our regular Open Mornings and School in Action events.

Once you decide that our school is the one for your daughter, you need to complete the application form that you started when making your initial enquiry. A £240 application fee is payable for international pupils to apply for a place. International applicants may apply at any point of the year, providing there are spaces within the year group.

For chance vacancies, please email us and if there is a place available we will advise you when to apply.

Apply online

4

All international applicants are invited to complete an admissions assessment at a mutually convenient time, taking different time zones into consideration. Where possible, we will work with your daughter’s current school to arrange invigilation of the assessment. Alternatively, online invigilation can be arranged when appropriate.

Assessment requirements vary according to the year group of entry and are designed to help us understand each applicant’s academic profile, learning strengths and potential. In general, assessments may include English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, providing us with a well-rounded picture of your daughter’s abilities.

Applicants will also be invited to a short online interview with a member of our academic team. This is an opportunity for us to get to know your daughter beyond her assessment results. We encourage girls to talk about an achievement, interest or experience they are proud of. Interviews typically last around 15 minutes.

In addition, we will request a confidential reference from your daughter’s current school as part of the application process.

Assessments

5

We send our offers out following all assessments. For chance vacancies, the offers will usually be sent the week after the assessments are completed.
