D OF E AWARDS

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, available from Year 9 upwards, builds confidence, dedication and commitment.

Duke of Edinburgh's

Sydenham & Dulwich Girls is a directly licensed centre for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Pupils can take part in the scheme to achieve their Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards through completing four sections: volunteering,  physical, skills, and the expedition.

DofE is the nationally and internationally recognised Award favoured by employers and universities alike. Over time, it builds confidence, teamwork, leadership, resilience, fitness and commitment – attributes we all want to see in our young people in school, life, and in the workplace

The journey begins in Year 9 with the Bronze award. Pupils then progress to the Silver award in Year 10, with support for the Gold award offered in the Sixth Form (started in Year 12 and completed by the end of Year 13).

For the expeditions participants receive training that will enable them to self-sufficiently hike, navigate, cook and camp together with their teams. These experiences truly build life-long memories and bonds with their peers. The expeditions for all levels generally take place during the summer term or early in the autumn term.
