Sydenham & Dulwich Girls' developed a skills-centric approach, the Elevate Curriculum, in which students in Key Stage 4 and 5 have a timetabled series of courses on future skills, alongside GCSE and A Level lessons. What makes this approach both different and highly effective is that this is an integral part of the academic curriculum, not an add-on. This isn't just an extra club; it’s a core component of our girls’ education.

Learning an instrument offers pupils a unique blend of cognitive challenges and opportunities for personal growth, ultimately boosting academic performance and cultivating essential life skills.

From my perspective as Director of Sport, I've seen firsthand how crucial it is to get girls moving and to keep them engaged in sports, not just for their physical health but for their future success.

When girls feel valued, seen and heard, they thrive. Confidence grows, self-belief deepens, friendships flourish, and academic success follows. Our mantra is simple but powerful: we are deliberately bothered. We don’t leave wellbeing or connection to chance. We intentionally create a school culture where every girl knows she belongs and has a meaningful role to play.

In London we are blessed with a plethora of options for girls and boys, but that often makes it even harder as parents trawl through adverts, articles and websites of schools all promising to offer the best education.
